Welcome: Christmas Tree - The children decorated a Christmas tree, then traced a STAR on top!
LBQ: AM What are some of your holiday traditions? PM What do you like to do when it's cold outside?
Pledge/Weather/Calendar
Song/Poem:
Five little snowflakes dancing on the wind,
The first one said, "It's fun to twist and spin!"
The second one said, "There is winter in the air!"
The third one said, "But we don't really care."
The fourth one said, "We will tumble to the ground."
The fifth one said, "Decorate the woods and town!"
Whoo-oo went the wind on the cold winter night,
And five little snowflakes whirled out of sight.
We recited the poem, then the kids took turns acting it out. They loved it!
Book: Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner. This is a funny book about a boy who wonders why his snowmen looks so funny the day after he made him.
Activity: Make yummy smelling ornaments - We measured and mixed our recipe for gingerbread ornaments. The children all helped then we rolled it out and cut the dough into hearts. We made sure to remind the children several times that we added A LOT of cinnamon plus some glue to the ornaments and they are NOT to eat (by us OR our pets)!
Snack!
Review 6: The children traced the number 6 and the word six on their note card, added six stickers, then we all counted to SIX.
