Having fun on a rainy day!

Tuesday, January 17th

Welcome: Begin the Itsy Bitsy Spider activity page.

LBQ: What do you like to do on a rainy day? "Jump in puddles!!"

Pledge/Weather/Calendar

File Folder Fame: What's the Weather Like? We matched pictures of clothes and different items to what weather we would wear or use them in. (We only had time for this in the AM)

Song: Rainy tune of Bingo
Today the rain falls from the sky and rainy is the weather.
RAINY RAINY RAINY and rainy is the weather!
The kids thought it was great to cross off letters and clap instead of sing!

Book: Rain Song by Lezlie Evans. I've never had so much fun reading this book as I did reading it with your kids. : )  Both classes really enjoyed listening to the story of a storm that rolls over a home where two girls are playing.  One is quite frightened and the other helps her through it.  After the story we copied the pattern the rain made by first making it sprinkle by rubbing our hands together, then patting our knees gently for rain, then a little harder until it was pouring! Then gentle again, then rubbing our hands together again.

Activity: Finish the Itsy Bitsy Spider activity page. They colored a "water spout", a sun and a spider.  We put the sun and spider on sticks then sang the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" song as they acted out.

Snack!
