Book- The Great Trash Bash by Loreen Leedy. Mayor Hippo is very proud of his beautiful city but he knows something is wrong. After slipping on a banana peel, he realizes the problem is trash. Mayor Hippo calls a town meeting and suggests the animals have a trash bash. The citizens of Beaston come up with ideas of their own. They realize they can recycle items instead of throwing everything away. An excellent book to teach young children about recycling.
Activity- Litter Monster on a stick! We have talked about taking of our earth and the importance of cleaning up trash. So today we made a litter monster who hates litter and reminds us how icky it is to litter! The litter monster can help us when we need to clean up our own mess, either in our rooms, our house, yard, or community!
