Welcome- #8 Postcard
LBQ- Do you like the weather to be hot or cold?
Most of the children said they love to be both!
Pledge/ Weather/ Calendar
Song- Five Gila Monsters
Five gila monsters and not one more,
One ran away, then there were four.
Four gila monsters by the paloverde tree,
One ran away and then there were three.
Three gila monsters-poisonous, it's true,
One ran away and then there were two.
Two gila monsters warmed by the sun,
One ran away and then there was one.
One gila monster had lots of desert fun,
It ran away and now there are none!
Book- The Tortoise and the Jackrabbit by Susan Lowell. The Tortoise and the Hare with a southwestern flair. A classic story set in the desert with beautiful pictures that tell this great story of a persistent tortoise who never gave up!
Activity-Today we colored and discussed different living things from the desert. The children could color and glue as many living creatures to their desert painting. We talked about where these creatures lived and where they should go on the paper. This was great to see how some used all the creatures and others students only wanted a few, and all told a story as they put them on!
