Happy Thanksgiving!

November 22nd

Welcome: What's wrong with this picture? Worksheets and Harvest Pumpkin Pies! The kids sat and colored a worksheet  and they had to circle 8 things that didn't belong in the picture. Plus they each took a turn making a treat.  We mixed 1/4 cup vanilla pudding with 1 teaspoon pumpkin and a dash of pumpkin spice, put it on top of a graham cracker crust, and topped it with whipped cream. We put it in the fridge until snack time! Delicious!

LBQ: "My favorite food to eat on Thanksgiving is..."  We made this into a graph.  Each class named some Thanksgiving foods, then they took turns choosing their favorites. Then we answered questions about the graph.

Pledge/Weather/Calendar

Song: If Your Thankful and You Know It.

If you're thankful and you know it clap your hands.
If you're thankful and you know it clap your hands.
If you're thankful and you show it, let your friends and family know it.
If you're thankful and you know it clap your hands!
(repeat: stomp your feet, turn around, shout hurray)

Book: The Night Before Thanksgiving by Natasha Wing. First the kids reminded me what the story was about, then they talked about their favorite part of the book. Next, we re-read!

Activity: Setting the Table. We talked about how we can help at Thanksgiving and made our own place setting to help the kids remember how to properly set the table.

Snack!

Game: The AM class had time to play Over the River-We put two strings parallel to each other on the ground and called it the river.  The kids had to jump over it to get to "grandmother's house". (Over the river and through the woods....) Each time we would make the river wider!

Turkey Hand prints: We made brown hand prints and added feathers, a beak, and legs to make a turkey.

Thankful bags: We put together thankful bags for the kids to give to someone they love!

Playtime!
